fairly

update on chinese relations, i saw a cool wallet at the fair saturday... i remembered to check to see if it was from china. it was. i did not buy it. way. to. go.

also, the fair? yikes with the people that live here. i mean, really. it was sort of interesting to just sit back and watch, but also very scary. my favorite scene occurred at the bird show (super awesome by the way). the show started at 2:30pm, therefore, it was still very sunny and hot. there were trees surrounding the stage slash seats and everyone was squishing themselves into the cramped shady benches on the edges.

an older couple (i'm guessing about 70ish) comes in about 15minutes after the show had begun and were looking for seats. they go up, they go down, they sit in a sunny area, get up and then stand at the side. chuck and i were standing under a tree off to the side. so finally the guy takes his wife to the side and tells the people sitting in the shade to scoot it on down so that they can sit in the shade. the shaded people look at him quizzically with a bit of an underlying sneer. he says, agitated, "aw, forget it." like they're being totally unreasonable. chuck looks at me, "did you see that?"
