Prayers From A 3 Year Old

Where did the weekend go?!

This weekend flew by so quickly, and I wasn’t even all that busy.

I just have to take a minute and brag on my B. Since January, we have been saying bed time prayers every night. We do the Our Father and our own version of Four Angels. I normally have to say a line, and then B repeats it back to me.

Friday night T had to go back into work so it was just the boys and I at bedtime. I was in the kitchen getting C’s cup ready and pulling the boys’ blankets out of the dryer.

As I turned the corner to walk into their shared room, I saw my sweet three year old sitting in his bed. He had his head down, eyes closed, and little hands folded. He was saying, “Gibb us dis day our daily bread…” and my heart melted.

Every night when we did our prayers I wasn’t sure how much he was soaking in. How much of it he was really getting from it.

Even after watching him say his entire prayers by himself, I went in and we talked about it for a minute. What it means when we pray and why we pray.

I was so very proud of my sweet boy.

I just had to brag for a minute about how incredible and smart he is. Not to mention how quickly he is growing up. Ive begun planning his 4th birthday party and Ive signed him up for pre-kindergarten.

I just don’t know where the time went. It really seems like yesterday he was my sweet little baby, and I was this new barely 20 year old mom. I had no idea what I was doing, and here I am almost 4 years later.

Growing and birthing my babies is still my biggest accomplishment in life. I am so very very lucky to be their Mom, and to have them as mine.
