Warm Water and Lemon: Get This in Your Mouth

I’ve been meaning to write a post for quite some time about how much I love warm water and lemon as a morning drink. Of course I also love my coffee, but there are so many benefits to drinking a mug of warm (almost hot, but not scalding) water with fresh lemon slices first thing in the morning that it’s practically insane not to do it.

My biggest reason for drinking it is because it’s a small healthy habit that is much better for me than dieting. I don’t believe in dieting for three reasons: 1) I don’t often make horrible food choices, I just eat A LOT which is why I am chunky, 2) dieting makes me feel like I am depriving myself of things I probably didn’t even want in the first place, and 3) the one time I tried some fad diet for the sole purpose of dropping pounds, I felt horrible and it backfired and I woke up in a bubble bath surrounded by empty boxes of Girl Scout cookies. That may or may not be true

So rather than dieting, I try to develop small habits that keep my insides clean, regulated, and healthy. This drink wakes up your digestive system and acts as a natural diuretic, which gently flushes toxins through your body and hydrates your tissues with clean, pure water and pH-balancing citric acid.

Fresh lemons are also rich in vitamin C which gives your immune system a boost (and keeps your skin clear), and the strong citrus scent awakens your senses and gives you a burst of energy without caffeine. The pectin fiber in lemons also curbs hunger cravings, and I have noticed that when I start my day with warm lemon water I do tend to eat a little more balanced throughout the day.

In a nutshell, warm lemon water is a miracle drink for your insides and is a great habit to pick up if you want healthy digestion, clear skin, and a burst of energy.

But I’m still not giving up my coffee.

What do you drink in the morning?
